Thanks to all who attended last night's scheduling meeting. I'm not sure all of you are aware that there are new teams that will be playing this year as a JV team and some others that are trying to get organized. Here is a list of the new teams that will be playing a JV schedule in the spring:
(1) St. Thomas More H.S. Lafayette, Louisiana.
Coach Rusty Deas (his e-mail is listed above)
This will be the first High School team in South Louisiana! They will play in the THSLL South division.
Please welcome Rusty and his boys to the south division. I know he is looking for games here and we need to reciprocate with trips to Lafayette. Please help him out with JV games this spring!
(2) Klein Forest High School, Spring, Texas
Bob Parliament is overseeing this program with two of my boys from UH helping coach there.
Bob's e-mail is listed above also. Bob attended the scheduling meeting last night and has a pretty good sized schedule. He is in the same boat as Rusty in Lafayette. First year team playing as a JV team.
(3) Oak Ridge High School, Oak Ridge, Texas
Tom Golis, a transplant from Atlanta, Georgia is heading up this program. His e-mail is also listed above. They have a field and are pursuing players.Their goal is to play some scrimmages in the spring with other JV teams.
(4) Pearland High School, Pearland, Texas
David Barragato, a transplant from Rochester, N.Y. is forming a team there. His e-mail is listed above also. He started the Ice hockey program at Pearland and now wants to start a "real" sport at Pearland. He like Oak Ridge would like to play some scrimmages in the spring with other JV teams.
(5) YES College Prep, Pasadena, Texas
Chris Barbic, the head of school and myself are starting this program. Chris went to Vanderbilt University and his best friends at Vanderbilt played on the Lacrosse team there. YES Prep is a charter school in the HISD that focuses on underprivileged children focusing them towards a four year college. They have a 100% acceptance rate for graduated students entering four year colleges. It will be the first all minority program in the state of Texas. Two of my boys at UH are coaching this program. US Lacrosse awarded YES Prep this past month with "BRIDGE" Program status. Meaning that they will focus equipment and help to get this minority school program up and running. It again is the first program in Texas to achieve this status. YES Prep is focused on playing some JV scrimmages this spring also.
Please welcome them all on board!
