Boys' DI Varsity Assistant Coach Available: 2014-2015. Deadline: OPEN. Position Description: Vandegrift High School is the newest High School in Leander ISD and opened with freshmen and sophomores in the fall of 2009. The Vipers play in the Texas High School Lacrosse League (THSLL) Central Division. VHS completed our inaugural lacrosse season in the spring of 2010, advanced to the DII Final Four in 2013 and made the DI playoffs in our first DI season in 2014. The program has grown into 65 plus players at the high school level split between a DI Varsity, DII Varsity and a JV team.
Vandegrift is looking for an experienced lacrosse player/coach for our DI Varsity team. VHS has a very dedicated board and a solid tradition of lacrosse at the youth level with good players feeding into the high school program.
Coaching and/or playing experience is required. Candidates should have a passion for the sport and interest in building a highly competitive program. Applicants should be knowledgeable of the fundamentals and have a love for teaching the game.
Salary: To be discussed. Appointment: Part-Time, the season runs November through May with some additional administrative responsibilities in the off season. Candidates must pass a state mandated background check.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
· Attending practices during the week from 4:15 to 6:00 PM and on Saturday mornings.
· Coaching, mentoring and developing athletes and assisting in their personal growth.
· Participating in the development and implementation of practice and game plans.
· Scouting future opponents as necessary.
· Setting up and running practices and drills.
· Attending various coaching meetings as necessary.
· Assisting with the youth program.
